April / May menu

starters

Soup of the day V   £3.95

Asparagus 'en papillote'    £5
Fresh asparagus wrapped in parchment with fresh peas, mascarpone cheese, garlic butter, herbs, a dash of vermouth and baked fresh. Served with garlic butter bruschetta.

Steamed dumplings V    £4.60
Chinese style dumplings filled with a pepper, cabbage, cashew nut and yellow bean stuffing and then steamed. Served with a soy, sesame and balsamic dumpling dip.

Breaded mushrooms    £4.70
Button mushrooms filled with gorganzola, toasted pine nuts and basil, breadcrumbed and then deep-fried. Served with a tomato and tarragon sauce and a little garlic mayo.

Spring Sushi V    £4.80
Hand rolled nori rolls filled with soy braised french beans, sweet red peppers and avocado. Served with wasabe, soy sauce and a refreshing cucumber and bean sprout ponzu dressed salad.

Main courses

Artichoke gougere    £9
A homemade French style choux pastry filled with a marinated artichoke casserole and oozing emmental cheese and lightly baked. Served with red onion marmalade on salad leaves with a creamy asparagus and blue cheese sauce.

Wild garlic and nettle risotto (vegan available)    £8.50
An arborio rice risotto with hand picked nettle tops, wild garlic, parsley, chervil and white wine. Topped with veggie parmesan cheese and served with a side salad dressed with a saffron dressing.

Whacko taco    £8.60
A fried corn tortilla shell filled with hot chilli non carne, creamy pumpkin bake, mozzarella, chopped tomatoes, guacamole, iceberg lettuce and sealed with a tortilla lid. Topped with cheesy nacho sauce and salsa.

Spinach curry V    £8.50
A spinach, chickpea and mushroom curry accompanied by a saffron and raisin rice and a small stack of sweetcorn and gram flour pakora fritters. Served with a vegan yoghurt and mint coulis.

Ramen    £8.90
Stir-fried egg noodles in a light shitake mushroom and konbu broth. Garnished with aburage (stuffed tofu), spring onions, nori seaweed, mini cabbage pancakes and cheesy miso aubergine.

Desserts

Tiramisu    £4.60
The Italian classic made with zabaglione, mascarpone, cream and marsala wine.

Tarte Normande    £4.60
French pastry filled with baked brandied apples and bruleed crème patissierre. Served with whipped brandy cream.

Pecan, raspberry and chocolate truffle pie (vegan available)    £4.60
Served at room temperature with chocolate ice cream
